β οΈ Important Notice
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible after the 30-day grace period. Please ensure you have withdrawn all earnings and backed up any content you wish to keep before proceeding with account deletion.
Your Right to Delete Your Account
Under POPIA and GDPR, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data. Teka SA provides an in-app account deletion feature that allows you to initiate this process at any time.
You can access the account deletion feature by:
- Opening the Teka SA mobile app
- Navigating to Settings β Account Settings
- Selecting "Delete Account"
- Following the on-screen instructions
30-Day Grace Period
When you request account deletion, your account enters a 30-day grace period. This industry-standard practice gives you time to change your mind and recover your account.
During the Grace Period:
- Your account is immediately inaccessible to you and other users
- Your content is hidden from public view
- Your data is marked for deletion but not yet removed
- You can cancel the deletion request at any time
- No new content can be uploaded or earnings generated
After 30 Days:
- Your account and all associated data are permanently deleted
- This action cannot be reversed
- You will not be able to recover any data, content, or earnings

Earnings and Payments
β οΈ Critical Information
Any pending earnings in your account will be forfeited upon account deletion.
Before deleting your account, please ensure that:
- You have withdrawn all available earnings (minimum withdrawal: R1,000)
- All pending payouts have been processed
- You have no outstanding financial matters with Teka SA
Important: We strongly recommend waiting for all pending payouts to complete before initiating account deletion. Once your account is deleted, you will not be able to claim any earnings.
Data Export (GDPR Right to Portability)
Before deleting your account, you have the right to request a copy of your personal data. This includes:
- Profile information
- List of uploaded videos (metadata only)
- Earnings history and financial transactions
- Engagement statistics
To request a data export, please contact us at privacy@teka-sa.co.za before initiating account deletion. Data exports are typically delivered within 7 business days.
Note: Video files themselves cannot be exported due to storage constraints, but you can download your videos manually through the app before deletion.

If you change your mind during the 30-day grace period, you can cancel the deletion request:
- Open the Teka SA mobile app
- Navigate to Settings β Account Settings
- Select "Cancel Account Deletion"
- Your account will be immediately restored
After cancellation, your account and all content will be fully accessible again. However, once the 30-day grace period expires, cancellation is no longer possible.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I recover my account after permanent deletion?
No. Once the 30-day grace period expires and your account is permanently deleted, recovery is not possible. All data is irreversibly removed from our systems.
What happens to my videos after deletion?
All your videos are permanently deleted from our servers and cannot be viewed by anyone. They are also removed from all caches and backup systems within 30 days.
Will other users be notified of my account deletion?
No. Your account simply becomes inaccessible. Your profile and content disappear, but we do not send notifications to other users about account deletions.
Can I create a new account with the same email after deletion?
Yes, but only after the 30-day grace period is complete and your account is permanently deleted. You will start with a completely new account with no connection to your previous one.
What if I have pending earnings below R1,000?
Unfortunately, earnings below the R1,000 minimum withdrawal threshold cannot be paid out and will be forfeited upon account deletion. We recommend waiting until you reach the minimum threshold before deleting your account.
How long does the deletion process take?
Your account becomes immediately inaccessible upon deletion request. Complete data removal from all systems (including backups) takes up to 60 days from the deletion request date.
